College Admission Experience

Jen Motzer Rause is an experienced admission counselor who most recently served as Senior Associate Director of Admissions at Lake Forest College. During her eleven years working in admissions at Lake Forest, Jen reviewed thousands of applications for admission utilizing a holistic review process including review of essays and evaluative admission interviews. She also held many administrative roles during her time at Lake Forest, including managing campus visit programs, tour guide program, national admissions alumni volunteer program, high school counselor communication, reception planning and management of merit-based scholarship programs. Jen utilizes all of these experiences to assist her in providing students with inside knowledge of the admissions process.

Passion for Working with Students

Jen’s passion for helping students drove her decision to begin work as an independent college consultant in 2015. She greatly enjoys working personally with students to help them navigate the college search and admissions process in order to find the right college fit.

Dedicated Professional

Jen is greatly involved and active within the higher education profession. She's a professional member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC) and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). She previously served on the executive board from 2013-2017 for the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling as Membership Chair and launched a new mentorship program for the organization. In 2017, Jen received the RMACAC High Five Award which “recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to our organization either through a body of work during their membership or through some significant single contribution.” Jen has presented at college counseling conferences for the National Association for College Admission Counseling, Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling, Colorado Council on High School/College Relations and Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling. Her involvement and volunteer roles in these professional organizations serve her students well as she continues to stay up-to-date on recent changes and trends in college admissions.

Regional Involvement

Jen’s last five years at Lake Forest College were in a regional position where she lived in Colorado and assisted prospective students from 26 states. During her time as a regional counselor, she served as Chairperson, Special Events Coordinator and Counselor Relations Chair for the Regional Officers of Admissions of the Rockies (ROAR). She was also a member of the Regional Admission Counselors of California (RACC).
